The Traveling Periodical

Currently spotlighting creators in Baldwin Park, Orlando, FL, and accepting submissions from artists in the greater Orlando area. 

The Traveling Periodical is a quarterly publication that investigates the identity of a different location with each issue. 

It does this via the art, science, and personal stories of the wonderful and interesting and strange folks who call that particular place home.

Spanish Moss

There are few words said in "Sunday Mourning" and its quiet exploration of grief. A feeling that tends to be non-talkative, which perhaps makes it all the more complicated to deal with...

Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is a species of the Bromeliad family, just like pineapples!

 

 It is not actually a moss, but rather an epiphyte. An epiphyte is a plant that grows on the surface of another plant.

 

And despite the nasty rumors, Spanish moss does not

damage the trees on which it resides. Using trichomes, it collects and stores water from rain and fog, and nutrients from the atmosphere...
